Description and benefits

Deep Tissue Massages

This technique uses the same strokes as classic massage therapy, but with a heavier pressure that reaches the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. This treats tension and knots that are in deep muscles of the body as well as muscle swelling. As a result, flexibility is improved and chances of injury are decreased so that the athlete can perform better.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a fibrous connective tissue that surrounds the muscles. Myofascial release technique targets fascia by applying pressure and skin rolling, to eliminate its tightness and restore its mobility. A restored fascia promotes flexibility and decreases pain.

Thai Massage

Our massage routines incorporate Thai massage techniques to get maximum stretch and increase flexibility. During a Thai massage, the therapist applies yoga stretches to the athlete, as well as muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure.

Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage that provides a very deep pressure through the therapist’s feet. This technique requires the massage therapist to stand with one or two feet on the athlete’s back, arms, legs, and neck. We incorporate some Ashiatsu techniques in our massages to provide deep pressure, relaxation, to assist with deep stretching and postural alignment.

Hot and Cold Therapy

Hot and cold therapy is used for pain relief on injured areas.
Heat induces vasodilatation which increases blood flow to the muscle, promoting drainage and recovery. Heat also provides a relaxing effect to decrease muscle tension and discomfort.
Cold therapy is used to constrict blood flow to the muscles: this reduce swelling, internal bleeding, and inflammation. The numbing effect of cold decreases pain.

Everyone of our massages incorporates stretching; assisted stretches are deeper and more targeted than self-stretching for those muscles that present limited mobility.
